Splatoon Raiders Map & Compasses Guide

Those navy-blue crates you keep spotting off the main path? They hold Compasses, and they are one of the most under-rated resources in the game. Here is exactly how they work.

What a Compass does

Compasses are a collectible found in certain raid types. When you grab one, the next time you return to the Treasure Map at your Hideout, a compass icon appears at the top of the screen and points you toward a hidden Sampler Dungeon. Clearing that dungeon rewards a Skill Point — one of the most valuable late-game currencies for powering up your Tanks. Miss the crate and you miss the Skill Point.

Why they matter more than they lookEarly on you are drowning in Power Eggs and gadget parts, so a Skill Point feels minor. But late-game difficulty spikes are exactly where Tank upgrades from those points pay off. Every blue crate is a free power bump you are leaving behind if you skip it.

Solving the Treasure Map puzzle

  1. Break the blue crate during the raid and pick up the Compass it drops.
  2. Return to the Hideout and open the Treasure Map screen. A compass icon now sits at the top.
  3. It either points with an arrow to a spot on the map, or fills a progress meter as you get closer while exploring.
  4. When you are close enough, the compass shows an A button prompt. Press it to uncover the hidden Sampler Dungeon.

Sampler Dungeons (what you get)

Sampler Dungeons are short challenge rooms — usually three or four — where your loadout is restricted to a set weapon and/or gadget. They exist to make you use gear you might not have unlocked yet, and to solve small platforming or puzzle bits. Each one rewards a Skill Point (Skill Tome) you spend on Tank upgrades at the Mechanic's Shack.

Don't rush themBecause your equipment is fixed, a Sampler Dungeon is a puzzle, not a DPS check. Read what it gives you and play to its strength rather than forcing your usual style.

The other collectible: Briny Scrolls

While you are hunting blue crates, you will also see reddish-orange crates holding Briny Scrolls. These unlock lore entries in Big Man's Hoard back at the Hideout. They are not a power resource, so pure min-maxers can skip them — but they are cheap to grab in passing and the world-building is genuinely good.

Frequently asked questions

What is a blue compass in Splatoon Raiders?

A collectible in navy-blue crates found in Relic and Crystal-mining levels (Treasure Hunt and Huge Crystal raids). Collecting one brings up a Treasure Map puzzle that reveals a hidden Sampler Dungeon, which rewards a Skill Point.

How do Sampler Dungeons work?

Short, loadout-restricted puzzle rooms unlocked by Compasses. Your equipment is set for you, and completing one rewards a Skill Point you spend on Tank upgrades at the Hideout.

What are Briny Scrolls?

A second collectible in reddish-orange crates, usually off the main path. Collecting one unlocks a lore entry in Big Man's Hoard at the Hideout.

Do I keep Compasses if I die?

Yes — like other raid loot, you keep what you picked up even if you are splatted before extraction. Grab the crate and it is yours.
